Volvo vehicles generally have standard halogen bulbs in the headlights. For this reason Volvo's are a popular car to upgrade to HID. Many of the early Volvo's opted for the dual filament H4 bulbs so would require the H4 bixenon HID upgrade. However the newer models are more commonly seen with the separate main and dipped beam bulbs. For these models it is most common to just upgrade the Volvo's dipped beam to HID

Many of the early Volvo's were equipped with a basic ECU system and H4 dual filament bulbs. This setup is very common and enables the car to be compatible with standard HID kits. It is for this reason we would recommend the Pro range of our HID conversion kits for these vehicles. These include the HIDS4U Pro Plus HID kit and the HIDS4U Pro Max HID kit. You should expect with the Pro Plus HID system to see an increase by around 300% from your Volvo standard headlights. With the Pro Max HID system you should expect to see an increase of about 400%

The more modern Volvo vehicles introduce the newer canbus style ECU systems. These systems were included on the newer C, S and V ranges aswell as the newly released XC90's (among others). These new ECU systems run different checks on the status of the bulbs installed. This causes the onboard ECU to think the bulbs have failed and to report errors. Our Ultimate HID Kit has been specially designed to overcome these issues and is available as a plug and play system. For all the modern Volvo cars we recommend using the Ultimate HID kit to ensure complete compatibility.
