Audi on the whole are great cars to upgrade to HID. All pre 2002 Audi's can use the standard Pro Plus ranges of HID kits. Most of the post 2002 Audi's have the more sophisticated ECU system installed. These more advanced ECU systems can cause conflicts with standard HID kits. It is for this reason that HIDS4U has created a simple plug and play HID kit called the Ultimate HID kit for use in newer Audi vehicles.
Pre 2002 Audi including A3, A4, A6, A8 and TT
For most pre 2002 Audi vehicles, upgrading to HID is a straight forward task. The ECU systems are not too advanced so do not cause conflicts with the HID kits. It is for this reason we would recommend the Pro range of our HID conversion kits for these vehicles. These include the HIDS4U Pro Plus HID kit and the HIDS4U Pro Max HID kit. However, with the Audi A3, you will also need an additional relay harness otherwise the wiper motor will be damaged by the HID kit. We can provide this additional harness as a simple plug and play addition which will not affect the performance of the HID kit. You should expect with the Pro Plus HID system to see an increase by around 300% from your Audi standard headlights. With the Pro Max HID system you should expect to see an increase of about 400%
New Post 2002 Audi including A3, A4, A6, A8 and TT
With the exception of the Audi A4 and A6, all post 2002 Audi's would require our Ultimate HID conversion kit. With the A4 and A6, it is only post 2005 that requires the Ultimate HID kit. The ECU systems on the newer Audi's are more advanced than the earlier ones which cause problems with the bulb checking systems. This causes the onboard ECU to think the bulbs have failed and to report errors. Our Ultimate HID Kit has been specially designed to overcome these issues and is available as a plug and play system.
We have HID conversion kits available for the following Audi vehicles, or use the finder above for a complete bulb application guide for your car:
